Comparison
Transcy alternative for Shopify: Transcy vs Unlost
Transcy is one of the most reviewed translation apps on Shopify, and its currency and geolocation features are a big part of why. Here’s how it compares with Unlost when translation is what you mainly need.
We make Unlost, so read this with that in mind. Everything said about other apps comes from their own Shopify App Store listing and Shopify’s help center, checked on 7 October 2026. Prices and limits change; check the listing before you choose.
The short version
Stick with Transcy if you sell in a lot of languages at once, need images localised per market, or rely on geolocation and many currencies.
Unlost is the better fit if you sell in up to ten languages and have more products than Transcy’s lower plans allow, or you want your theme’s code translated and a review list for anything uncertain.
Where they really differ
Product limits. This is where the difference shows first. For three languages, Transcy Regional ($29) allows 200 products. Unlost Growth ($29.99) allows 1,000, and covers up to five languages.
Lots of languages. Transcy’s higher plans cover 15 to 50 languages. Unlost’s plans go up to ten, and more on request. If you need thirty languages, Transcy is built for that.
Hard-coded text and checks. Unlost translates text written into the theme’s code, keeps product names as written, checks short texts a second time and puts uncertain translations in a review list.

Unlost’s plans

Paying yearly gives two months free. Words count once per language: 100 words translated into 3 languages count as 300. On every paid plan, new and changed content is translated automatically within a minute; on Free you translate new content with one click.
What Unlost translates
Pretty much everything a shopper reads: products with their variant options, collections, pages, blog posts, menus and policies; SEO titles, meta descriptions, URL handles and image alt texts; notification emails; your theme’s texts, including text written straight into the theme’s code, like a Custom Liquid block; and the metafields your theme shows.
All of it is saved in Shopify itself, so it stays in your store if you ever remove the app. Product names stay as you wrote them, short texts like buttons and sizes get an extra check, and anything uncertain goes to a review list. Edits you make yourself are never overwritten.
