Comparison

GTranslate alternative for Shopify: GTranslate vs Unlost

GTranslate is popular for a simple reason: unlimited words and every language for a fixed price. Where it differs from Unlost is in how the translations are made, where they live, and what you get for SEO on each plan.

We make Unlost, so read this with that in mind. Everything said about other apps comes from their own Shopify App Store listing and Shopify’s help center, checked on 27 October 2026. Prices and limits change; check the listing before you choose.

The short version

Stick with GTranslate if you want every language and unlimited words at a fixed price, or need most third-party app content and country-specific domains translated.

Unlost is the better fit if you want your translations saved in Shopify itself, checked for quality, and your URLs and SEO texts translated from the first paid plan.

Where they really differ

SEO and URLs. On GTranslate, search engine indexing is listed from the paid plans, and URL translation from the Business plan at $35. Unlost translates SEO titles, meta descriptions, URL handles and image alt texts on every plan, so they can be found in every language from the start.

Where the translations live. GTranslate’s listing describes translation proxy technology. Unlost saves every translation in Shopify itself, so they stay in your store if you ever remove the app, and you can see and edit them with Shopify’s own tools.

Quality checks. Unlost keeps product names as written, gives short texts like buttons and options a second check, applies your glossary and a formal or informal tone per language, and puts anything uncertain in a review list.

And a clear point for GTranslate: unlimited words and every language on one fixed price. If you sell in twenty languages, that’s hard to beat.

What Unlost translates

Pretty much everything a shopper reads: products with their variant options, collections, pages, blog posts, menus and policies; SEO titles, meta descriptions, URL handles and image alt texts; notification emails; your theme’s texts, including text written straight into the theme’s code, like a Custom Liquid block; and the metafields your theme shows.

All of it is saved in Shopify itself, so it stays in your store if you ever remove the app. Product names stay as you wrote them, short texts like buttons and sizes get an extra check, and anything uncertain goes to a review list. Edits you make yourself are never overwritten.
